Training review - Week 28 & 29
Apparently it is now summer and since the schools are closed the pool opening hours have changed. This is wrecking my swim plans as I can't get a full session in before I have to get out to get to work on time. I really need to get outdoors for more swim sessions but the commuting to Strichen and lack of knowledge of safe swim spots up there is hampering that.
When I wrote my original plan for this year I was going to do 20% of the TdF miles, but once I knew it clashed with the Scottish Aquathlon Championships I cut that to 12%, but forgot to update my underlying plan. So I got nowhere near the massive bike miles I was meant to do this month, despite doing my three biggest bike weeks of the year so far. I am still ahead on the bike, just not as far ahead as I would like. And having done most of my TdF challenge on the road bike my mtb miles are now significantly behind.
And I have done too little running one week and too much the next and that on top of my TdF challenge have wrecked my HRV and readiness scores this week as well as meaning I could only jog in to a 21:15 Parkrun this weekend.
I did have some success on the middle Sunday though. Despite a fairly average swim and a below par run, I did manage to win the Scottish Aquathlon Championships and retain my title. I will hopefully do a full race review of that some point, if I can find the time around everything else at the minute.
